Job Description: Finance Officer

As a Finance Officer at Cordaid, you will play a pivotal role in contributing to the growth and diversification of revenue. Your responsibilities include:

  • Improved Program/Project Budgets:
    • Prepare, coordinate, and monitor country/project/program budgets.
    • Assist in budget management during implementation to contribute to revenue growth.
    • Maintain banking relations.
  • Project Participation:
    • Under functional supervision of the project leader, participate in project teams.
    • Share financial expertise and advise on financial matters related to the project.
  • Controlled Budgets:
    • Coordinate financial transactions using the correct financial system and cost centers.
    • Check cash forecast, payments, advances, and reimbursements.
    • Conduct support visits, audit implementing partners, and advise on accounting.
  • Administrative Order:
    • Establish and maintain sound financial management systems.
    • Provide administration support, including monthly bank reconciliations and closing statements.
    • Prepare, file, and track financial documents.
  • Compliance:
    • Ensure adherence to accounting principles, standards, and donor requirements.
    • Stay informed about government and legal regulations affecting the budget.
  • Financial Reports:
    • Prepare and compile financial documentation supporting settlements.
    • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports.
  • Internal Operations:
    • Interpret financial reports and expenditure analysis to project and financial staff.
  • Integrity:
    • Adhere to the Code of Conduct and integrity policies.
    • Report concerns and undergo regular integrity training.
  • Other:
    • Perform any other duties assigned by the manager.

Job Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills, and Experiences:

  • University degree or specialized technical certificate plus a professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIPS, CIS).
  • 3-5 years of progressive experience in the related field.
  • Knowledge of finance systems, planning & control, computerized accounting, legislation, reporting standards, and languages.
  • Familiarity with Cordaid’s mission, goals, and security policy.
  • Behavioral values and skills: accountability, sustainability, respect, diversity & inclusion, flexibility, creativity, collaboration.
  • Social skills to ensure compliance and gather reliable information.
  • Writing skills to formulate financial reports.
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken) and the local language.
